Englewood, FL-Englewood Bank & Trust Hosts the 26th Annual Art Festival

Englewood Bank & Trust will be hosting the 26th Annual Invitational Art Festival  on Saturday & Sunday, January 26th - 29th, 2013, from 10 am – 5 pm on the grounds of Englewood Bank & Trust’s main branch at 1111 S. McCall Road.  Sixty fine artists and fine craftsmen from all over the world will be participating in this year’s art festival, which will, as always, showcase the works of well-known local artists.

“I can’t tell you how excited I am about the show this year.  I am so proud of the magnificent collection of award winning artists who have decided to exhibit in Englewood,” says artist Carroll Swayze, longtime resident and show chairman.  “I’m calling it the Best Little Art Show in Englewood because the high quality of original art that is coming to town this weekend is going to be amazing.  The best thing about it to me is that everyone will be able to afford something.”

The list of artists is impressive, sixty of the nation’s top award winning artists and fine craftsmen will be featured in this world class art event and every media will be represented.  Painting, sculpture, fine jewelry, blown glass, printmaking, clay in all forms, drawing, metal, watercolor, collage, acrylics, oil, any media you can imagine will be represented.

Award winning artist, Jeff Eckerd, is one of the sixty fine artists who will be traveling to Englewood this weekend.  Jeff works in pencil, both color and black and white and creates ultra  realistic drawings that he will exhibit at the Art Festival.  Jeff started his career working as an illustrator for Hanna-Barbera Productions, an American animation studio that dominated American television animation for nearly 40 years.  The studio produced many successful animated shows that we all grew up with such as The Tom & Jerry Show, The Flintstones, Scooby-Doo and The Smurfs.   Jeff now resides in Tampa.

“I have been lucky to not only be an artist all my life, but to have a community who supports me and the arts in general.  Englewood, Venice, Boca Grande and Port Charlotte is rich in artists living and working locally which gives everyone in the area the opportunity to not only experience original art, but to own it,” said Swayze.  “You can literally buy a piece of original art for the price of dinner and a movie, so it is not out of anyone’s reach.  My youngest patron is a Lemon Bay high school student who saves his money each year to add to his collection at my studio party.  Keeping art alive in the school system has always been one of my passions and it’s exciting to live in an area where people care about the arts.”

The art festival is a premiere art collecting opportunity for local homeowners and visitors as well as being a great way to spend a day relaxing and enjoying art in a casual setting.  A local concession stand will offer great food and refreshments, and Englewood Bank & Trust will provide plenty of free parking.

The hours of the art show are from 10 am to 5 pm both Saturday and Sunday, January 26 & 27, and the public is invited to enjoy a day with fine artists and craftsmen from around the world.
